18 boys contested the boys’ singles and it was the youngest player in the draw, 13 year old Levi Hoang (YMCA), who caught the eye in the early rounds as he overcame two older opponents before losing in three games to Ryan Newcombe (Stowmarket) in his quarter-final match. The four seeded players emerged to take their places in the semi-finals where Newcombe was defeated by Scott and Jonathan Kuribayashi-Coleman (Meridians) beat last year’s winner, Gavin Coyne (YMCA).
